A weight off my shoulders (or two)

The highlight of today is that, after refitting yesterday the anchors back into the wall with the help of a lot of assembly glue and letting it rest for 24 hours, this afternoon I have hung the blind back in place and, to my great relief, everything held well in place. It is remarkable how troubling this kind of things can be. Knowing that you have a (seemingly) impossible problem in front of you and that it has to be addressed promptly is absolutely paralyzing and tends to fill all my mental energy. Luckily, it is now solved for good.

The second aspect where my worries have been eased is in the preparation for PhD thesis. The coursera solution is working really well. The videos are easy to understand, so it is not a problem to watch them in the evening or only with limited attention, but they still provide me with the necessary lingo. It has been a few painful weeks sitting at the PhD students round table and failing to understand so many technical terms! But now things are evolving to the positive and soon I will be on solid grounds to continue my work.

This afternoon, like almost every Tuesday, we had a meeting with the group and I was offered to present my work. This is a good sign, because all the other PhD students are full-time employees at the university, so they have a much closer relationship and also a lot more dedication than I will ever be able to have. But still, being invited to present means that I am accepted in the group and, although I had to decline this time, it will not be long before I feel ready to take it to the stage.

In the meantime, stay well and I will write to you tomorrow
